PROJECT INFORMATION:
Although the Princes Highway is to the south of this site, the building does not turn its back, but engages with the street through acoustically treated windows and the articulation of secondary balconies - providing passive surveillance and contributing to the character of the local streetscape. Sunny and peaceful open spaces are created at the north-facing rear of the site, including a common area where a large Jacaranda tree is retained.
The building is raised up to a safe level above the flood zone, with ramps and retaining walls carefully integrated into the landscaping. The iterative design process achieves optimum yield for the site while addressing the constraints and maximising amenity to the residents and neighbours.

Completed in 2022, the development consists of 12 affordable apartments that respond to the local context and dynamic character of Princes Highway.
Articulation of balconies along Princes Highway façade create a layered aesthetic that allows passive surveillance of the public domain.
The design capitalizes on the site’s orientation creating a sunny, peaceful open spaces for the residents. A significant feature of the design is the retention of a large Jacaranda tree which anchors the common central area providing a natural gathering space for occupants.
The integration of ramps and retaining walls within the landscaping enhances accessibility. The development demonstrates a commitment to social sustainability through the provision of affordable housing that achieves a high standard of living and community integration.
